Character Animator After Effects

As per my knowledge & understanding you can not animate & add audio for lip sync to the Character animator puppet inside of After Effects. You can only create a dynamic linking between the Animator & After Effects, so that if you make any changes in animator till will be reflected inside the AE. In an age of After Effects and 3D modeling software, character animation has come a long way from what it once was, yet many principles established in the 1930s and 40s still very much apply to the work being done today. Just do characters in Character Animator and do props and landscape in after effects? Any type of advice how which parts of an animation you guys do in which application would be great!
